Rebuilding the Frame

The  rear leaf springs have been attached then the rear end was bolted to the springs. Next the front axel and mechanical brake linkage were set in place next. Since I haven't had time to get the brakes relined the carriage work was stopped at this point.

Much of this winter was consumed doing other projects and not much was done on the truck till late May. During  June I have completed sand blasting the wheel rims and had the brakes relined. As you can see the front wheels are  bolted and on the floor. Rear brake drums are on with spider that connects the dual wheels.
Rims have been sand blasted but not finished or painted at this time. Also completed at this date was sand blasting and painting the fuel tank and  transmission. Engine rebuild is still on hold waiting for more parts. My job has me going out of town again so project is on hold once again. This coming winter should show results completing this project as much of the frame work is complete.

New toys this winter next to mig welder now include gas torch  and Miller 180 tig welder. I have used the gas torch many times to straighten bent parts like the front bumper.

Much of summer 2000 into early winter has been collecting parts for the engine and body. I now have a very nice set of front fenders and a NOS set of .040" oversized pistons for the engine rebuild. My work at AT&T still has me out of town more than usual. Some work has been done on the doors and rims for the rear tires are ready to be painted.

Found on EBay, a rebuilt (1930) engine at a good price for $650.00. Some improvements were made this year such as the down draft carburetor. I will work on the old engine and store as a spare. The transmission is now ready for painting and this will complete all the running gear. Attention can now be focused on replacing wood and metal body work.
